The Huntsville Town Council approved Resolution 2025‑2‑20‑B updating rules for the Town Hall and community center. Among the changes the council adopted were a clarified ban on candles and open flames — revised to read “No candles or open flames in the building except as approved by the town staff” — a rule that weddings are not allowed in the community center, and a change to clarify that animals are not permitted except as “provided by law.”
Council members debated whether to allow alcohol for some rentals and whether a fee should be charged when alcohol is permitted; Mayor Sorensen and others cautioned that alcohol can be problematic and noted there are other venues in town for events with alcohol. TCM Artie Powell suggested any allowance for alcohol be written into the rules with explicit conditions. The resolution passed on a 4–0 vote with the stated edits.
