The Village of Mattawan council on July 13, 2026 approved steps toward street maintenance and pavement preservation. Member Daniel moved and Member McLean seconded approval of a sealcoat agreement with Van Buren County conditioned on an administrative review of which roads will be covered and final sign-off by President Stuut. The motion passed unanimously.
Separately, council authorized President Stuut to coordinate with Superintendent Anthony to add manhole adjustments on Silvergrass to the upcoming bid and to pursue the crack-fill project; those items will be represented again at the July 27, 2026 meeting. The actions position the village to advance pavement preservation while confirming administrative review of scope and final approval from village leadership.
