Director Sam Walters delivered the library's director's report, listing recurring programs and community partnerships that use library space. He noted Garden Club meetings, Story Time, Lego Club, Coding Club, Teen Art and Card program, Girl Scouts, Rotary Club, and High School Leadership Academy meetings as regular activities supported by the facility.
Walters also provided recent activity details: the library hosted an architecture-class tour from Montana State University on Jan. 29, and the next Historical Resources Board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 5 at 9:30 a.m. on the third floor of the old hospital/Community Service Center. He reported that "AARP volunteers have started providing free tax preparation services in the library. They will continue providing this service at the library on Mondays until mid-April," a new public-facing service expanding the library's role as a community hub.
Walters additionally said the library continues to provide community service students with work toward their sentences but cautioned the program "may have to take a break due to a lack of jobs for them," a staffing matter trustees noted during discussion. He also said he will briefly speak at an event at the AOH hall on Friday, Feb. 13, signaling ongoing outreach efforts.
