Consultant presents Tooele County Safety Action Plan, cites crash survey and grant opportunities

Dallas Wall, project manager for WCG, presented the Tooele County Safety Action Plan developed under a Wasatch Front Regional Council grant and described the plan's methodology, which included crash trees, five-year crash-rate analysis and heat maps. He said the plan identifies 21 recommended locations for mitigation and that survey work reached more than 500 citizens. "88 percent of persons in Tooele County have either witnessed a crash or been part of a crash," Wall said.
Wall explained that the plan is designed to help the county qualify for implementation grants (including HSIP and other federal sources) and includes cost and benefit estimates for recommended treatments. He emphasized there are no binding obligations in adopting the plan; adoption would position the county to pursue implementation funding and standardize safety analysis across local planning documents. Council members asked technical questions and expressed support for pursuing grant-funded countermeasures.
