Salem supervisors change paving specs to 19mm, advertise project bids

The Salem Township Board voted to change specifications for the 2025 Road Paving Project, moving multiple road segments to a 19 mm pavement specification and approving advertisement for bids.
Kerry Jobe explained that to simplify the project some roads specified at 9.5 mm will be upgraded to 19 mm; the change covers the village of Forbes Road, Charles Street, parts of Orr Road and parts of Rosewood, and will include milling of Forbes Road. "To keep it simple, everything will go to 19MM," Jobe said. The Township Engineer reviewed the materials discussion and did not object to the change.
The board then approved advertising the project for bids structured to maximize responses (installation-only and package bids discussed). Bob Zundel did not vote on the advertisement motion; Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voted in favor, so the motion passed by majority.
Solicitor Falatovich will review contract language for potential inclusion of pug milling via CoStars vendor references before final contract award. The move to advertise allows contractors to submit bids ahead of the summer construction season.
