Salem supervisors back $250K DCED grant for Seanor Farm Park; 15% local match required

Salem Township supervisors approved a letter of support and formally authorized application documents for a $250,000 grant to build the Phase 3 ballfield at Seanor Farm Park.
Kathy Hamilton, president of the Salem Township Recreation Board, said DCED requires a 15% match for the $250,000 request, which would mean a $45,000 local contribution. Hamilton told the board the Recreation Initiative plans to fundraise roughly $170,000 to expand the field beyond what was originally planned five years ago. "DCED requires a 15% match for the $250k grant," Hamilton said.
The board approved Resolution 14-2025 designating an agent to act on behalf of the township for the application and authorizing execution of pro forma documents. Kerry Jobe clarified the township does not have a grant writer but uses a consultant and that Hamilton prepared the application. The motion passed unanimously.
If funded, the project will advance park field construction pending the township's ability to provide the required local match and complete any related permit approvals.
