Salem Township awards pipe and fuel contracts ahead of summer projects

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors awarded a procurement contract for approximately 6,100 linear feet of double-wall plastic pipe to Pleasant Unity Supply and approved a fuel bid from Export Fuel at its May 21 meeting.
Bid details for the pipe were read into the record (per-diameter pricing for 12" through 48" and rolled pipe sizes). Resident Eric Hageder asked whether other vendors had bid; Bob Zundel noted that Pleasant Unity provides much faster local delivery compared with a previous supplier in Ebensburg, saying that "if we call Pleasant Unity one day the pipe will be here the next." The motion to accept the Pleasant Unity bid passed unanimously.
Separately, the board accepted Export Fuel's bid for approximately 12,000 gallons of diesel at $2.2890 per gallon delivered and approximately 5,000 gallons of 87-octane gasoline at $2.2712 per gallon delivered, with margin and OPIS base pricing mechanics and a winter additive noted in the bid. That motion also passed unanimously.
The awards were made based on bids opened at a May 19 special advertised meeting and recorded in the meeting minutes.
