Salem Township supervisors approve $108,171.11 in May expenditures and multiple routine motions

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors approved minutes from three recent meetings and authorized monthly expenditures of $108,171.11 during its May 21 meeting.

The motions to approve the April 16 regular meeting minutes and the May 8 and May 19 special meeting minutes were moved and seconded by supervisors Kerry Jobe and Ken Trumbetta; votes for those motions, and for the expenditures motion, were recorded as Bob Zundel, Ken Trumbetta and Kerry Jobe voting in favor. The expenditures motion listed fund totals including General Fund $52,371.67, Payroll Fund $46,551.29, Liquid Fuels $2,077.96 and other special funds for a combined total of $108,171.11.

Supervisors also approved placement of comprehensive insurance coverage through Assured Partners for an estimated 2025–26 premium of $58,004 (down from $59,282), and renewed volunteer fire department workers' compensation through the State Workers Insurance Fund at an estimated $25,787 (down from $33,514). Kerry Jobe noted that "Assured Partners bought out Hicks Hiem Mustio." The Board voted unanimously on both motions.

The board voted to advertise the Township's 2024 audit for public review and approved a formality to place those audit materials on file for public inspection. The Board also approved a disabled-veteran real-estate tax exemption for Michael J. Kempert after receiving a signed certification dated April 9, 2025.

A resident, Eric Hageder, asked who will replace the Cintas uniform service; Jobe said "it's a contract year and we may offer an allowance," and board members indicated the issue needs further discussion.

The meeting adjourned at 8:09 p.m.; the supervisors set the next regular meeting for June 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
