Fire department reports new hires, training push and grant-funded gear acquisition

Department leaders said they are coordinating with the new EMS director to expand hands-on training; the minutes list more than 200 training hours and note the department will host a regional training on Oct. 24–25. Officials are finalizing truck specifications and hope to use a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in 2028 for a truck. The department is also in the final stages of a CDBG grant to acquire gear, is pursuing a Zoll X monitor, and has applied for permission to use a donated Polaris UTV during special events.
No formal requests for immediate council action or additional appropriations were recorded in the minutes; the report was informational. The council later thanked city employees and reminded residents to use amenities carefully during the summer.
