Motion by Commissioner Rick Shriver, seconded by Commissioner Thomas W. Jones III, passed 3-0.
BJ Hayes, Pratt County Zoning Director, presented the application and the Planning Board’s recommendation for conditional approval, citing requirements for coordination with the county road supervisor on entrances, exits and screening, and for updated decommissioning plans every five years to account for inflation. Representatives from NextEra Energy Resources and consulting team members introduced the project to the commission during the hearing.
No public comments were presented during the hearing. The commission’s approval was conditioned on final decommissioning documentation, financial sureties and certificates of insurance before construction may begin. The resolution and Planning Board findings were adopted on May 4, 2026; commissioners recorded a unanimous 3-0 vote.
