Board discusses fuel farm RFP and Deer Lodge interest; flowage fees for emergency users may be studied

Doug Chapman asked whether parties from Deer Lodge remain interested in taking over and running the fuel farm. Carl Hamming said two entities initially expressed interest and that an RFP was issued, but the county did not hear back from the Deer Lodge group or another Bozeman-based group. Hamming invited Chapman to meet at the courthouse to review the RFP and next steps.
Chapman also asked whether flowage fees are assessed when firefighters or the National Guard refuel or haul gasoline during fire season. Hamming said, "Right now, that is not done but does not mean that this cannot be looked into and discussed a bit with Mathew Wilder," who was not present. No change to fee policy was adopted at the meeting; staff will follow up with the consultant and report back.
