Salem Township hires MBM Law as solicitor after long tenure by prior counsel

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors approved a motion on Jan. 5 to retain MBM Law as the township solicitor at a retainer rate of $0 per month and $175 per hour for work performed outside the monthly meeting. Supervisor Kerry Jobe said the change follows a long relationship with Solicitor Falatovich and aims to secure attorneys who can respond quickly and work for the township’s interests.
Kerry said, "there wasn't a monthly retainer in their proposal," and explained the board expects at least two attorneys to be available as the township transitions. Resident Debbie Perino asked how the township would determine which attorney from the firm would be assigned, arguing "she doesn't care about the idea of a firm. She thinks it should be one individual." Todd Paulich named the two attorneys expected to handle township matters — Falco Muscante and Ryan Thomas — and the board recorded unanimous support for the appointment.
Several residents and former Planning Commission members praised Solicitor Falatovich for his long service, and the board said the transition will include cooperation with the outgoing solicitor to finish critical matters.
