Council narrows pickleball tournament to three days and tightens court operations

The council declined a request to reserve courts for four days (Sept. 4–7) and approved a shortened schedule: set-up on Friday, Sept. 5 starting at 4 p.m. EST and play on Sept. 5–7 (Friday–Sunday). Tim McCarthy moved to allow the tournament under those dates; Mike Botelho seconded and the motion was approved by all. Council required that any request for village resources (tables, chairs, cords) be submitted to the office at least one week before the tournament.
Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said staff will begin locking and unlocking the pickleball/tennis court gates starting May 1, and that the cranks used for nets have been removed because they frequently go missing or are broken. During public comment, resident Pam Schutt complained that pickleball players were "relieving themselves by the creek," and Nancy Thill raised quieter pickleball options as a possible mitigation.
