Michiana council approves John Deere tractor purchase using maturing CD and water-bond funds

Members said $20,000 is available in the vehicle reserve and the council plans to cash a Vehicle CD that matures at the end of May for $20,640; the remaining $38,149 would come from Water Bond funds. The council approved the purchase and separately voted (roll call recorded) to cash out the vehicle CD when it matures.
Council noted delivery could take three to six months and that the new tractor will include a backhoe attachment to allow the village to dig water lines without outside contractors. Tim McCarthy moved to approve the purchase; Mike Botelho seconded and the motion passed.
