Council approves one-year stewardship contract for butterfly garden, capped at $5,000

Beth Denton, Territory Manager for Pizzo Stewardship, told the council the contractor finished erosion blanket installation and supplied photos of the completed work at the butterfly/pollinator garden. Denton presented a proposed 2025 stewardship contract that would provide seasonal maintenance (April–November), invasive and non‑native species control (hand‑pulling, brush incising, mowing or targeted treatment), and seed collection and dispersal.
Council member Mike Botelho moved to approve a one‑year stewardship contract not to exceed $5,000 and to revisit the arrangement for 2026; Nancy Thill seconded. After discussion the council took a roll call vote and approved the motion 5–0. The contract as described includes time, travel and supplies and is limited to the pollinator garden area described in the presentation.
