The Village of Michiana Council on Aug. 9 approved several financial and contractual items, including a water contract with Michigan City and multiple CD rollovers. Council members recorded unanimous roll-call votes where noted and approved routine meeting minutes and the check register.
Council member Brian Cassidy moved to approve the water contract with Michigan City; Mike Mumper seconded and the motion passed on a 3–0 roll-call vote, according to the meeting minutes. Treasurer Tracey McCay asked to roll over two maturing certificates of deposit (the water CD at 1st Source and the General CD at Chase) and to move $25,000 earmarked for a police vehicle and a tractor into a CD to earn interest; the council approved both actions on a 3–0 roll-call vote. Clerk Anne Heywood presented the check register totaling $76,517.49, which the council approved on motion by Mike Botelho and seconded by Mike Mumper.
The decisions recorded were procedural approvals that advance ongoing capital and operational planning: the water contract provides a procurement or service path with Michigan City (contract text not printed in the minutes), the CD actions preserve interest income for vehicle and equipment replacement, and acceptance of minutes keeps the administrative record current. The minutes show no dissenting votes on the items noted.
