Weatherford highlights new Durant Hall, back‑to‑school events and Small Business Summit

Amy Borders briefed the council on recent and upcoming community events, starting with last week’s ribbon cutting for the new Vicky and Jerry Durant Hall at Weatherford College. "I think most of us were there to see this wonderful state of the art facility," Borders said, praising the Durant family and the college partnership.
Borders also recapped the city’s back‑to‑school bash at Curtis Elementary with Weatherford Police Department partners, where more than 200 backpacks with supplies were distributed. She reminded drivers to slow down as Weatherford ISD resumes classes and promoted Clear the Shelter Month (Aug. 10–Sept. 10) and a Sept. 15 Governor’s Small Business Summit at Weatherford College, featuring entrepreneur Matt Pittman of Meat Church Barbecue. Borders encouraged residents to register through the Chamber or the City Facebook page.
