Council approves downtown facade grant revisions: $10,000 minimum, 50% match

Ashley Sites, assistant director of economic development, presented revisions to the Central Business District facade improvement grant policy and said the primary change is a minimum owner investment requirement of $10,000 with up to a 50% monetary match. "The revisions do include a minimum investment of $10,000 with up to a 50% match," Sites said during her presentation.
Sites told council the policy was approved by the Weatherford Economic Development Board at its July 19 meeting and that the city’s document did not list a maximum award amount; she said larger projects would still come before the Economic Development Board and city council for approval. City council moved to approve the revisions (motion by Mayor Pro Tem; second by Matt Tiscus) and the item passed on the consent of the council. The policy change is intended to encourage larger private investments in downtown building facades while providing a partial City match.
