Board approves higher county credit-card limit, moves program to Nicolet National Bank

The Montmorency County Board of Commissioners approved two measures on June 25 to change the county’s credit-card program: raising the authorized aggregate credit-card limit from $5,000 to $10,000 pursuant to MCL 129.243, and authorizing the Treasurer and Controller/Administrator to close the county’s existing credit-card account with Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union and establish a new program with Nicolet National Bank.
Controller Aprille Williamson discussed the proposed change and the Board voted on the limit increase and bank transition. The increase motion passed 4–1 (Commissioner Bob DeVriendt recorded a nay); the authorization to close the existing account and move to Nicolet National Bank passed unanimously. The motions referenced statutory authority: MCL 129.243 was cited in the motion language authorizing the limit increase.
