Highway foreman reports grader repair, paving priorities and reserve increase

Trevor Dryden, Winhall's highway foreman, told the Select Board the town will send the grader out for repairs estimated at $7,500 plus $1,500 for shipping. Dryden outlined paving and striping priorities for Old Town Road, Upper Taylor, Winhall Hollow Road and the Access Road and said the contractor work windows for state roads must be met.
"We need to get our state roads done by end of October," Dryden said, noting scheduling constraints with the contractor that applies to state-maintained routes. During administrative budget discussion the board supported increasing the transportation reserve to prepare for eventual grader replacement, moving the grader replacement reserve from $50,000 to $250,000 in next fiscal planning.
Board members discussed timelines and apron improvements at driveways as part of the paving work; Dryden said salt deliveries are ongoing and the department will seek to coordinate repairs and striping with the town's schedule.
