Montmorency County adopts two emergency management policies after presentation

The Montmorency County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two Emergency Management policies after Emergency Manager Sarah Melching presented the proposals during the June 11 meeting in Atlanta.
Commissioner Mary Hardies moved to accept the Montmorency County Emergency Management Special Event Coordination Policy and Commissioner Lloyd Peltier seconded the motion; the board recorded Yeas: 5, Nays: 0 and the motion passed. Peltier then moved and Hardies seconded acceptance of the Montmorency County Emergency Management Volunteer Vetting & Background Check Policy; that motion also passed unanimously.
Sarah Melching presented both documents for the board's review. The motions were recorded on the meeting minutes as "Motion by Hardies, second by Peltier accepting the Montmorency County Emergency Management Special Event Coordination Policy as presented" and "Motion by Peltier, seconded by Hardies accepting the Montmorency County Emergency Management Volunteer Vetting & Background Check Policy as presented." The board took no amendments and no votes opposed either policy.
The board's action formalizes local procedures for coordinating special events and for screening volunteers who would assist under the county's emergency management program. The meeting adjourned at 10:17 a.m.
