Board approves budget amendment 2026-01 to record grants and reallocate funds

The Montmorency County Board approved budget amendment 2026-01 on May 14, authorizing adjustments across funds 101, 519 and 602 to record MEDC and MMP/EGLE grant activity in a newly created department and to recognize transfers from the County Improvement Fund.
The agenda packet and attached budget spreadsheets list detailed GL changes, including a $311,294.94 intra-department recording that does not change the overall general-fund total, and line items moving MEDC grant revenues and associated expenses into the newly created department. The amendment form (Attachment) shows Fund 519 increases of $14,899.36 (forfeiture/settlement expenses) and Fund 602 transfers of $39,106.74 for car parts/access door/camera work and tree removal at the Sheriff's Department.
The FPS committee had reviewed the amendment and the board approved it unanimously. Controller Aprille Williamson certified the amendment and noted the changes were intended to improve tracking of grant funds and to use existing contingencies or fund balances where necessary.
