Putnam board adopts $478.99 million tentative district budget

The Putnam County School Board unanimously adopted tentative budget figures July 27 that together total $478,991,223.75 for fiscal year 2026–27.
By individual roll-call votes the board approved the following tentative fund amounts: general fund $131,807,894.73; debt service $20,987,781.95; capital projects $228,189,118.41; special revenue $25,581,155.01; internal service $44,743,346.00; permanent funds $158,213.07; and enterprise funds $27,523,714.58. After approval of each fund, the board adopted the full district tentative budget of $478,991,223.75.
CFO Jonathan told the board that once the tentative budget is approved he will "open up the system for schools and departments to begin spending their budgets" with increased non-emergency spending authority (from emergency-only to 50% non-emergency use) before final adoption. The district will post the tentative budget and accompanying explanatory pages to the website.
