The board also questioned a provision tied to items 25 and 26 that refers to follow-up services after after-hours incidents. A sheriff’s office official explained those lines mean deputies who respond to an evening incident and trigger next-day extra security would not charge the district for the specific follow-up services. The board discussed overtime and compensatory-time arrangements for deputies at after-school or away events; the sheriff’s office said some deputies get overtime while others may use comp time under limits similar to teacher comp-time guidelines.
The district reviewed Safe Schools funding impacts during the discussion. The sheriff’s office provided a budget breakdown that included a charter-share deduction and the chair summarized that the district’s general fund would cover roughly $27,000 of the contract after those adjustments. The board moved to approve the contract “with the revisions that were discussed at today’s meeting,” a motion that passed 5–0. The chair asked the sheriff’s office to return a revised draft promptly for review rather than waiting until the next monthly meeting.
The action is procedural approval with direction to make the textual edits discussed; no further policy changes were adopted at the meeting.
