Mercer County approves $4,000 contract for glass-recycling outreach and a host site agreement with Hempfield Township

The Board approved a contract (not to exceed $4,000) with Lilly Reed to design educational materials for the Glass Recycling Program (100% reimbursable by PA DEP grant) and approved a Site Agreement to place a glass drop-off container at Hempfield Township’s building.
The Board approved Resolution #2026-052 to contract with Lilly Reed for up to $4,000 to create educational materials—tri-fold brochure, informational rack card and flyer—to support the Lawrence-Mercer Counties Glass Recycling Program. Recycling Director Jerry Zona noted that the materials are intended to help public awareness and will be reimbursed 100% through the PA DEP 902 Glass Recycling Program grant.
The Board also approved Resolution #2026-053 to enter a Site Agreement with Hempfield Township to host a glass drop-off container at the township building near the existing blue bins. Deputy Director Megan Gahring and Director Jerry Zona advised the public that the Hempfield Township location will be available as part of the program rollout.
