The Brookings County Board approved several administrative and fiscal actions at its March 3, 2026 meeting. The board unanimously adopted Resolution #26‑08 to set fees for uncertified copies in the Register of Deeds office (SDCL 7‑8‑15): $0.15 per in‑office copy and $0.25 per existing electronic (TIFF/PDF) copy. The board also approved Agreement #26‑21 (2025 Local Emergency Management Performance Grant) and granted abatements to Brookings Municipal Utilities (Abatement #26‑02 for $2,409.53; #26‑03 for $38.04) and an abatement for Clarene G. Lems (#26‑05 for $883.54). Two late elderly and disabled assessment freeze abatements were approved as well.
Commissioners approved the annual weed chemical bids for 2026 (vendor price tables were entered into the record); sample pricing included Nutrien Solutions 2,4‑D Amine at $15.80 per gallon (2.5‑gallon container) and other vendor listings from Alligare, Corteva and Vandiest Supply. The commission authorized a Request to Fill a part‑time female correctional officer vacancy and declared several HVAC/boiler project components surplus for disposal. Following an executive session, Sick Leave Bank Request #26‑01 was approved. Most items were approved by roll call or unanimous vote as recorded in the minutes.
