The Weatherford City Council presented a proclamation recognizing John Hale for his long record of service to veterans and the community. The proclamation recited Hale's education, military service (U.S. Army 1962–1967), county service and volunteer leadership with veterans' groups; Mayor Paul Paschal's proclamation noted awards including Weatherford Veterans Day Grand Marshal and other community honors.
John Hale accepted the recognition and thanked the mayor, council and members of the public who attended. The council also adopted a separate proclamation designating Sept. 17–23, 2024, as Constitution Week in Weatherford and encouraged citizens to mark the anniversary of the drafting of the U.S. Constitution.
