Court sets composition for salary grievance committee under Local Government Code
Summary

Under agenda item e, the court considered the salary grievance process in accordance with Local Government Code §152.014. Commissioner Connolly (speaker 5) moved that the panel include the sheriff, county tax assessor-collector, county treasurer, county clerk, district clerk, county attorney or criminal district attorney, and the necessary number of public members so the panel totals nine voting members.
The court seconded the motion and recorded unanimous approval (5–0). County staff explained that the district clerk will provide a pool of recent grand jurors for selection of public members and that alternates will be named so the panel can be assembled quickly if a grievance is filed.
No changes to grievance law were proposed; the action establishes the panel composition and directs staff to provide the public-member lists and alternates when required by procedure.
