Commissioners cut Friends of the Library line to $500 after group did not request funds

After discussion, Commissioner Walden (speaker 4) moved, and Commissioner Hale seconded, to remove the $50,000 appropriation from the proposed budget and instead include a placeholder line of $500 so that funds would be available only if requested later. The court voted in favor; the clerk recorded the motion as carrying 5–0. Commissioners agreed additional outreach or awareness efforts could proceed but did not restore the larger appropriation without a formal request.
The court’s action reduces the proposed outlay and leaves a small contingency line for the Friends pending further community engagement or formal requests.
