Council approves three small rezoning requests including two West Russell parcels and a Weatherford College property

Council considered several land-use items and approved each following staff presentation and a unanimous Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation. The city received a request to amend the general plan from Community Commercial to Suburban Living and to rezone 0.205 acres at 110 West Russell from general commercial to R‑1 single-family; staff indicated adjacent rezonings had occurred and that outreach to neighboring property owners occurred. Council opened and immediately closed the public hearing with no speakers and approved the rezoning.
The adjoining parcel at 112 West Russell received the same approvals by the council in a separate ordinance. Separately, Weatherford College sought to expand its plan-development zoning to include a recently purchased 0.36-acre lot at 1401 South Sloane Street for anticipated additional parking; staff said the college will proceed through the normal site-plan process when ready. Planning & Zoning recommended approval in all three cases and council approved the ordinances on the dais.
