Weatherford crews honored for mutual aid after Garland storm

Tom Hancock of Garland Power & Light and Joe Farley addressed the Weatherford Municipal Utility Board to thank local crews for mutual-aid assistance after a late-May storm.
"On May 28, we experienced a pretty significant storm in Garland, had winds up to 95 miles an hour, had roughly 0.5 of our customers out at the peak," Hancock said, describing the scale of the outage and the help Garland received from neighboring municipal utilities and co-ops. Hancock said Garland's restoration took about a week with outside help and that Garland wanted to offer a special recognition to Weatherford for assistance. The board applauded the visiting crews and accepted Garland's written recognition.
The mayor and board members thanked Garland officials for making the trip and noted the mutual-aid relationship is reciprocal; Weatherford representatives said they appreciated the partnership and the chance to help a neighboring community.
