Huntsville raises summer parking fines after council debate

Huntsville Town Council adopted an ordinance on June 5, 2025 that increases parking fines for no-parking and permit-only areas during the busy season. The ordinance (2025-5-15) sets new fine tiers to discourage roadside parking and reduce spillover from popular reservoir destinations.
Council members discussed enforcement and fairness; some members said higher fines are necessary to match regional changes in Weber County and to reduce residents’ summer parking headaches. Town staff clarified that the ordinance applies to posted no-parking and permit-only areas and is intended to complement county enforcement around Pineview Reservoir. The measure passed on a roll-call vote with the council amending some penalty amounts during debate.
The town will publish the new fine structure and update signage as needed. The clerk’s office and Sheriff’s Office will coordinate enforcement and the town will monitor effects on summer traffic patterns.
