The Huntsville Town Council approved the Iron Lung Ride special-event application for July 19, 2025, during its June 5 meeting. The event benefits regional high school mountain-bike programs and organizers agreed to redraw the route to avoid the roundabout construction at SR-39 and 100 South.
Town Clerk Beckki Endicott presented the permit and said the event will occupy a corner of Huntsville Park. Organizer Kaidon Lyman confirmed the ride will start and finish in Huntsville and will not conflict with other large Valley events. After discussion about routing and safety, Council Member Sandy Hunter moved to approve the permit, waive the standard special-event park rental fee, and charge the applicant the park bowery fee of $170 plus a refundable cleaning deposit of $250; Council Member Bruce Ahlstrom seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The council asked organizers to coordinate logistics with park staff and the Sheriff’s Office for on-course support and to provide evidence of insurance listing the town as an additional insured.
