The Payson City Council approved a resolution to send notice to Utah County and place a parks‑tax renewal question on the November ballot.
Staff explained the PARC (parks, arts and recreation) tax is a 0.1‑cent portion of the sales tax that periodically must be renewed by vote; it has funded trails, benches, playground equipment, pickleball courts and other park amenities. Staff noted the County requires a notice of intent by June 30; the council approved moving ahead to get language reviewed by Utah County.
Council members discussed public education options. Staff said the city has produced an informational video that highlights projects funded by the PARC revenue and that the city can post material on its website and social channels; councilors suggested forming a citizen group to help inform voters. The council moved and approved sending the question to the county for placement on the ballot.
