Council approved two special-event applications for downtown street closures and outside liquor privileges: a Main Street closure and outdoor license for Los Mezcales on Aug. 8 (Resolution 2026-187) and a street-closure/outside-licensed event for 505 Brewing Company on Oct. 3 (Resolution 2026-153).
Applicant Jose Ortiz (Los Mezcales) said he had informed neighboring businesses and invited them to participate, describing vendor plans and entertainment. Council members praised outreach but asked staff to ensure future applicants notify neighboring businesses and to treat previously submitted applications fairly if new notice requirements are implemented. Council moved and seconded motions to approve both events; votes were 8–0 on each resolution.
Council asked staff to consider updating event-application forms to make neighborhood notification routine and to contact applicants whose events are pending later in the year.
