Blackford County Allows RWE to Work in County Right-of-Way for Prairie Creek Wind

The Blackford County Commissioners voted 3-0 on July 21 to allow RWE Prairie Creek Wind to perform work in county right-of-way for the Prairie Creek Wind project. Highway Superintendent John Pluimer told the board RWE will hire American Engineering Testing (AET) to conduct road testing ahead of work.
"RWE Prairie Creek Wind is asking permission to work in the Right-of-Way," Pluimer said, and the board approved the request on a motion by Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer, seconded by Commissioner Laura Coons. The vote was 3-0. Pluimer also emphasized that trucks supporting wind projects must use designated routes; he said off-route violations carry a $1,000 fine per truck.
The approval authorizes RWE to proceed under conditions the highway department will monitor and enforce. Borgenheimer and Pluimer will score other related submissions, including a Letter of Interest from SJCA for Bridge 56 & 57, which Pluimer said the county received and will evaluate.
