Steuben Legislature confirms board appointments, accepts shelter-arrears funds and ratifies $12,500 litigation settlement

The Feb. 23 meeting included a slate of appointments: members to the Alternatives to Incarceration Advisory Board, Community Services Board and subcommittees, Cooperative Extension Board, Ethics Board, Youth Board, Traffic Safety Board, the Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board, and other committees. Appointees and terms were read into the record and confirmed by acclamation.
The Legislature also accepted $47,814 from the New York State Shelter Arrears Eviction Forestallment (SAEF) program for the Department of Social Services to provide shelter-arrear assistance to eligible households. In addition, the Legislature ratified a settlement in federal litigation requiring a $12,500 payment by the County resolving claims about pistol-permit application access for out-of-state residents.
Measures were adopted by acclamation or roll call as noted in the meeting record; certified copies of resolutions will be forwarded to the named appointees and relevant county departments.
