SkyWest and United prepare for Essential Air Service flights starting June 2

He said SkyWest staff will use airport office space for about seven weeks of training beginning in April and that the carrier has conducted roughly 15 interviews to fill positions. Foster added that initial sales, with minimal advertising, have been looking good and that there is currently no scheduling conflict with existing Breeze flights.
Why it matters: the start of scheduled service is intended to restore and expand commercial air connectivity for the Lancaster Airport market and will involve short-term operational changes, temporary office use for SkyWest training, and new staffing at the airport and fixed-base operators.
The board did not take any formal action on the service update at the March meeting; staff said they will continue coordination with the carriers and provide updates to the board as operations approach the June start date.
