Wyoming treatment court certification workgroup forming; peer reviews to finish by end of 2026

Jim Lyon, Staff member, summarized the coordinators' call and the newly formed certification working group for Wyoming treatment courts. He said the working group includes Judge Jefferson Holmes, Judge Chambers (Laramie County), Heather Carter of Albany County, the coordinator from Cody and himself; it will categorize Wyoming Best Practices into tiers and define documentation requirements. "There will be three certification levels: full certification, provisional/conditional certification, and not yet certified," Lyon reported.

Lyon described documentation that will be required for certification: policies and procedures, participant handbooks/court rules, team composition and meeting protocols, data and outcome reports, training records and sample forms. He also said peer reviews are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026 and that Sheridan County and Campbell County will conduct reciprocal peer reviews for their adult treatment courts.
