Assembly Welcomes Young Leaders and Observes Multiple Adjournments in Memory

During a break in daily-file business the Assembly paused for guest introductions. Assemblymember Wynne introduced 22 participants in a 'young assembly member' program from District 10 and asked colleagues to welcome them. Assemblymember Connolly introduced district staff and three new interns; Assemblymember Rodriguez introduced her grandson Tanner to the floor. Assemblymember Ward introduced inaugural LGBTQ fellowship cohorts and named several fellows placed in legislative offices.
Later in the session members offered multiple adjournments in memory. Assemblymember Lackey led recognition of eight people who died in a B-52 test flight crash at Edwards Air Force Base and read their names; other members asked the Assembly to adjourn in memory of local public servants and civic leaders, including a former West Covina mayor and longtime San Diego civil-rights figure.
The introductions and memorials took place amid legislative business; the presiding officer asked for decorum and reminded members of procedural rules as the floor returned to its calendar.
