Board recognizes Christmas Sharing Foundation, names 2026 Christmas Mother and honors student work‑based learning participants

The board used part of its July 21 meeting for community recognition. Representatives of the Dinwiddie Christmas Sharing Foundation described their 25‑year history of serving children and families and presented community service and business awards to Tabernacle United Methodist Church and ITAC (iTalk). The foundation introduced Kathy Worley as the 2026 Christmas Mother; Worley, a long‑time county resident and volunteer, said she looks forward to serving the program.
Later the board recognized the summer work‑based learning program and its 32 student participants and 22 host businesses. Two students — rising freshman Micaiah Allen and rising junior Bryce Godwin — gave brief presentations describing placements in code compliance and information technology, respectively. County staff noted that the program gives students hands‑on experience with local government and participating employers.
