In staff’s words, the applicant “would like to build a new home on those 4 lots,” and rezoning to RU was needed to meet building setbacks in the West Petersburg neighborhood. Staff recommended approval on the basis the RU district is compatible with surrounding land uses and consistent with the comprehensive land‑use plan.
There was no public opposition at the hearing for this item; a motion recommending approval was made and seconded and the Planning Commission recorded a vote of five present voting aye. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for a public hearing; staff said the Board will hear the case at its July public hearings.
