Yates County Social Services describes financial-management caseload, HEAP deadline and homeless counts

Amy Miller, representing Yates County Social Services, told the Human Services Committee on April 6 that Adult Protective Services spends substantial effort on financial-management cases and that the department is currently managing finances for 52 clients. "It's not like Child Protective Services, where they can swoop and 'save somebody,'" Miller said, explaining limits to adult-protective interventions when a competent adult makes decisions.
Miller also reported program counts and deadlines: the last day for HEAP is April 10; there are 28 Temporary Assistance homeless cases and 17 Code Blue cases, roughly unchanged from the prior year. The committee discussed listed resolutions and, after edits and discussion, raised no objections to forwarding them to the Legislative meeting.
