Planning staff presented rezoning case PD‑26‑3, a request to rezone a 0.71‑acre parcel on the east side of Route 1 from Agricultural General (A2) to Business General (B2) to allow commercial uses. Staff said the parcel is vacant, compatible with nearby B2 zoned properties (including the Dinwiddie Moose Lodge) and that VDOT will participate in site‑plan review; staff recommended approval to the Board of Supervisors.
The applicant, introduced by staff as Mr. Merrick, told the commission the intent was “to use it, for office space, part for office space, and the rest for storage.” Commissioners pressed staff and the applicant on whether turn lanes would be required; staff responded that turn lanes would be addressed during site‑plan review and would be required if warranted by VDOT. The commission moved and voted to recommend the rezoning to the Board of Supervisors.
