The Bristow City Council on April 7 approved rezoning property at 601 S. Roland from I-1 to C-1 to accommodate an outpatient counseling clinic. Attorney Beth Anne Childs told the council the change would unify zoning across the owner's parcel and reiterated that any residential use would require a separate Special Use Permit and additional approvals.
Resident John Matthews raised concerns about housing associated with treatment facilities and student safety; Childs and Inspector Chad Foster responded that housing would require a Special Use Permit and that Certificate of Occupancy and inspection processes must be followed before any occupancy. The motion to approve the rezoning passed on a roll-call vote: Church No; Fletcher Aye; Green Aye; Groom Aye; Johns Aye; Peters Aye; Roberts Aye; Witty Aye.
