Aledo library seeks continued Parker County support as visitors top 27,000

Erica Cooper Bateman, appearing for the Aledo (Alito) Public Library, asked the court to restore the library’s prior-year county allocation of $22,770 and said the branch had recorded more than 27,000 visitors since the city took over the East Parker County Library.
"Since then, we've had over 27,000 visitors, and we are asking for the previous year's funding level of 22,770 to continue providing Parker County services," Bateman said. She described the library’s free services to Parker County residents including early-childhood programming, literacy and vocational programs and told commissioners the library will move into a new facility later this year, which staff expect will increase usage.
Commissioners and city representatives discussed Friends‑of‑the‑Library support models used in other jurisdictions. After questions about partnerships and fee policies, the court voted to approve the requested amount and encouraged local fundraising to sustain programs.
