Freedom House asks Parker County to keep $29,400 funding amid cuts to state and ARPA support

“We kept our request the same as we always have, 29,400,” Patty said, adding that new requirements mean the shelter must have more hygiene supplies and maintain larger daily staffing levels (she referenced minimums of 13–25 people on duty). She also said the group had seen funding drop: approximately $72,000 in cuts from several sources and an exhausted ARPA allocation as of August 31.
Commissioners asked how a loss of county funding would affect services; Patty said it would require reductions in therapy and advocacy sessions and could force the shelter to eliminate some parenting classes and other programs. After discussion the court approved the requested amount; the record shows the motion carried.
