Parks director outlines September programs, art installation and long‑term trail coordination

She also described recent public art installations repurposed from the historic Rogers Bridge—five steel sculptures (including Lyrical Loops and Playful Passages) now installed at Morton Road Park and other locations—and said staff expects a ribbon cutting later in October.
On capital projects, Erica described long‑term coordination with the National Park Service on the Chattahoochee Greenway alignment from Abbott’s Bridge Road to Cully Creek Park and said Public Works will start design work for phase 2 (from Cauley to McGinnis). She said these projects involve multiple agencies and long timelines.
Committee members praised the new standardized signage across parks and suggested using large events to promote department programs and the city app. Erica confirmed MakerSpace bids were received but came in higher than budgeted and that staff will work through funding options before bringing a proposal to City Council.
