Trustee Norma Meyer moved to accept Eaton's resignation; the board voted yes (Bradah Littlefield, Norma Meyer, Steve Dickey, Kevin Walker). The minutes record Eaton's resignation letter dated August 8, 2025, which said, "please accept this letter as my formal resignation from my position as Trustee of the Town of Porter, effective immediately." The motion to accept the resignation passed unanimously.
Meyer then moved to appoint Lucas Beaty to the vacant seat. The motion was seconded by Mayor Steve Dickey and carried with a unanimous vote. Town Clerk Shirley Herring administered the oath of office and the loyalty oath to Beaty; after taking the oaths, Beaty took his place as a board member.
The board recorded the change on its minutes and continued with the evening's agenda.
