Porter authority adopts new past-due water-bill payment plan after clerk reports 82 accounts delinquent
Summary
After Water Clerk Kimberly Mullen reported 82 past-due accounts, the board adopted a policy allowing past-due customers to pay their current bill plus a minimum of $50 or 10% of the past-due amount (whichever is greater); payments made by the 15th will result in waiving the last fee on the past-due balance.

Water Clerk Kimberly Mullen told the board there are "currently 82 past due bills." The Board discussed options for accommodating past-due customers and voted to allow people who owe a past-due water bill to pay their current water bill plus a minimum of $50 or 10% of the past-due bill, whichever is greater. If the payment is made by the 15th of the month, the last fee on the past-due balance will be waived.
The motion was made by Norma Meyer and seconded by Lucas Beaty; the minutes record that Bradah Littlefield, Norma Meyer, Steve Dickey, Kevin Walker and Lucas Beaty voted yes. Earlier in the meeting Christy VanCleave appeared seeking a payment arrangement for a July bill of "$200.00 or $300.00," but the Board voted to take no action on her individual request. The new policy is recorded as a general approach for past-due customers rather than a case-by-case exception for VanCleave.
